One killed in Lyari violence-The Shaan News

KARACHI: Firing continued periodically causing tension in different areas of Lyari while one person was killed and another injured when unknown miscreants opened fire near General Hospital, Geo News reported Saturday.

According to sources, law enforcement agencies are continuing operation against criminal elements in the area that was launched on Friday morning where they encountered severe resistance. The security forces were attacked with hand grenades while grenade launchers were also fired.

Exchange of fire continued throughout the day that killed six persons, causing the area to shut.

Sources told that Crime Investigation Department (CID) police arrested several criminals and have taken control of some areas.

At night, there was decline in shooting incidents in the area but on Saturday morning, severe firing was reported again.

CID, Frontier Corps (FC), Elite Force and fresh contingent of Lyari police force have arrived at the scene and are advancing in the troubled areas.
